Most of what gets written about running a node skips straight to the reward. Stake this, earn that, watch it roll in. Nobody writes the part where you're checking dashboards before coffee, because that part doesn't sell a course.
The operators who last treat uptime like a habit, not a personality trait. They check logs before those logs turn into a support ticket. They patch on a schedule they control, not one an incident forces on them. None of it is glamorous. All of it is the job.

"Passive" is doing a lot of work in that phrase. Every operator we know still checks their nodes the way a pilot checks instruments mid-flight: not because something is wrong, but because that's how you make sure nothing becomes wrong. Call it active income with long, quiet stretches.
